Like you we are vintage clothing buyers and sellers. Sometimes we find a great source of vintage clothing and accessories or vintage patterns and then we lose track of it. Browser favorites or bookmarks are great but they get jumbled and lost too. Searching in Google is fine and we find most of the sites we visit there but for somethings, like those selling vintage on selling venues like Etsy, MSMO, Ruby Lane, or eBay, or those with their own small websites, there are just too many returns in the big search engines and it becomes difficult to find the seller we want.

It happens that we work entirely online for our living, we have our own commercial servers, and we create websites. I had developed a small database tool to keep track of the sites we wanted to find again. It was easy to use, reliable, and it worked!

I noticed that some sellers on eBay were sharing a manually generated list of store sellers to post on their About Me pages. It seemed like a lot of work for something that could easily adapt to a database system; in fact, the very database tool I had developed for myself!

So I created a small tool for them to use to manage the entries and automatically produce the HTML code they were distributing. The next step was a natural. Extend it to a website that all VCA sellers on eBay could use and expand it to include other selling venues as well. Make it a user-friendly site and let people enter their own information, search for others, and get a list to post on their profile pages or websites if they wanted.

There would be no memberships, no signing in, and no fees. The site would be easy to use and, best of all, free to use. It seemed to be a great idea and the Vintage Clothing Sellers database was born.
